TORRENCE MEETS CHRISMAN IN SEATTLE OPENER

August 4, 2012 -- The first two races in NHRA’s Western Swing were not memorable ones for Steve Torrence and the Torrence Racing/Capco Contractors Top Fuel team . . . something they will attempt to rectify in Sunday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Nationals.

“We’ve haven’t run well and we need to redeem ourselves,” commented Torrence after qualifying third for the Swing finale.  His time of 3.838 seconds at 311.56 mph from Friday night wasn’t challenged on a hot afternoon the included near 90-degree temperatures.

With crew chief Richard Hogan tweaking the tune-up for race day, Torrence posted elapsed time of 3.835 and 3.886 seconds.

“We made four consistent runs and have a good baseline (tune-up), and that definitely makes the driver confident,” he continued, “We hope to put what we learned to good use on Sunday.”
Torrence squares off against Steve Chrisman (No. 14, 4.176 seconds at 281.30 mph.
