BILLY TORRENCE EXPECTS BETTER RESULTS AT DALLAS

September 18, 2013 -- Any late-arriving Torrence Racing Fans last Sunday at Charlotte were deprived of seeing their favorite Top Fuel team when neither Steve nor Billy raced into the second elimination round of the Carolina Nationals.

There’s no doubt they were as surprised as their fans.

“That is something we certainly don’t want to happen again this weekend,” said Billy Torrence of their tire-smoking losses.  It was only his second Top Fuel race since teaming with his son Steve earlier this month at Indianapolis.”

“After we went out in the first round with both cars we were very anxious to get back on the track.”

Their wait is over Friday when the AAA Texas Fall Nationals begins its three-day run at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, not far from their home in Kilgore.

With each 1,000-foot trip he makes in the Torrence Racing/Capco Contractors Inc. Top Fuel dragster, the more he will learn about the 8,000-horsepower machine, its nuances and idiosyncrasies on the 300-mph blasts.

“We have a couple good teams and a couple good crews,” said Torrence.
“We have a team that has some momentum.  We just need to get back out there and go run our race.

“There will be many friends, family, employees, employers and fans here this weekend and it would nice to win for them.

“Whatever the outcome is going to be, we are going to enjoy ourselves.”
